Sherry Blockinger, pastry chef-owner of Westchester’s premiere dessert studio – sherry b dessert studio – is partnering with the Katonah Museum of Art (KMA) for the studio’s next “sb studio sessions,” a quarterly event program that features artists, designers and artisans in the food world and beyond. This summer, the studio will go from the kitchen to the canvas, demonstrating a shared commitment with the KMA to promote the arts in Westchester.

KMA’s summer exhibition, OnSite Katonah, which extends from July 10 – October 2, will go “offsite” at sherry b dessert studio, with a public mural by artist Keiran Brennan Hinton whose paintings are also featured at the KMA.  In this co-commission by sherry b and the KMA, Keiran will create his mural on the exterior wall of the studio’s building, which was built in 1929 in historic downtown Chappaqua. The studio will host several public “open studio” events for adults and families to observe Keiran’s process as his mural comes to life throughout July and August. The mural will be unveiled onSeptember 17, 2016 and will complete the building’s revitalization. Paint and materials will be donated by Chappaqua Paint and Hardware. sb studio sessions events will be photographed by Noelle Marie Photography.

“The sb studio sessions series was designed to showcase the work of artists in the food world and beyond,” said Sherry Blockinger. “Hosting Keiran as our Artist in Residence this summer, gives the community an opportunity to interact with the artist and observe his creative process, as his outdoor mural comes together. While my medium is food and Keiran’s medium is paint, we both seek to apply classic training in our respective fields to create something that the community can enjoy.”
