What’s the Power of 10?

Ten years ago, Furniture Sharehouse didn’t exist, and hundreds of families in Westchester had to sleep on the floor and live in empty apartments because they had no money to buy furniture. Those suffering included families moving out of homeless shelters without a single piece of furniture; women and children fleeing domestic violence with only a few bags of belongings; families that lost everything to fires, floods or other disasters; homeless veterans struggling to rebuild their lives. Lack of basic furniture is a hidden need in our affluent community.

Ten years later, thanks to Furniture Sharehouse, more than 10,000 people, including over 5,000 children, are getting a good night’s sleep, sharing family meals, keeping their belongings organized and living in dignity and comfort. What a difference!

That’s The Power of Ten.  Ten years of furnishing new starts.  Ten years of furnishing hope.  Ten years of furnishing families. Ten years of addressing a hidden need.  Ten years of recycling tons of usable furniture to those who need it.

Furniture Sharehouse invites the public to help celebrate its 10-year milestone by attending its “Power of Ten” Anniversary Gala on Fridayevening, October 28, 2016 at Mamaroneck Beach & Yacht Club, Mamaroneck, NY.  The Gala, including buffet dinner and open bar, will feature unique Silent Auction Designer Vignettes created by prominent Westchester designers, a brand new living room suite valued at over $10,000 graciously donated by W. L. Landau – Ethan Allen, as well as a Boutique offering special home decor items. Attendees will delight in browsing the vignettes to find unique items to transform their homes, while transforming the lives of families in need.  For more information and to purchase tickets, go to www.furnituresharehouse.org.
