Dr. Sabrina Magid Katz to Co-Chair YWCA Movers & Shakers Fundraiser

The YWCA White Plains & Central Westchester is hosting its Third Annual Movers & Shakers event at the YWCA Activity Center in White Plains, NY this Thursday, October 13, 2016. Female chefs from Westchester County are coming together, for one night only, to cook for a cause – eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. Innovative female chefs will Turn Up the Heat, as The YWCA celebrates and applauds the achievements of the honorees who best exemplify the mission of the YWCA – making the YWCA movement stronger every day.
We sat down with Dr. Magid Katz to get the inside scoop on the event, and what we can expect.

sabrina-magid-katz_headshotHow are you involved with The YWCA?
I am on the board of the YWCA, and my practice Advanced Dentistry of Westchester, sponsors a number of the YWCA’s events. I have been attending the YWCA since I was a child. Today, our son takes swimming lessons there.

Is your family involved with The YWCA?
The YWCA is doing so many wonderful things in our area. As a new mother, I want my son to grow up in a community where social equality is valued and everyone is treated with the kindness and respect they deserve.  As a woman who is a young professional, it is important to me that young girls are encouraged to pursue their dreams and goals, and given the support to do so. Eliminating racism and empowering women are bedrock principles in ensuring that everyone has an opportunity to thrive.

Why did you want to chair the event?

I am so honored to have the opportunity to chair this event.  In fact, I am co-chairing it with my husband, Adam Katz.  We thought this event would be a great way to attract other young professionals and hone their determination and spirit to bring attention to a valuable organization in Westchester – the YWCA.  By having the event at the YWCA they will be able to see the facility and the amazing programs it provides, both for themselves and the community at large.

Tell us more about the event

I am so glad that we have this event to acknowledge and honor particular movers and shakers in our community who embody the mission of the YWCA.  I am also thrilled to be showcasing the talents of some excellent female chefs and restaurateurs.  It is truly in line with our mission of empowering women.  I hope this event brings awareness to our mission and highlights the amazing services and programs that the YWCA provides.  It is my goal to bring more members of the community to the YWCA, and to encourage everyone to support and participate in its future.

We’d love to see you there, it should be fun… with good friends, music, tasting of local female chefs/restaurants, drinks, auction, and for a good cause! Save the date, spread the word, and please join us! Click here to RSVP http://bit.ly/2cmyZXc
