WHAT: On Saturday, September 10, from 2-4pm, Hall of Scoops and the Chappaqua Children’s Book Festival (CCBF) are hosting an afternoon of kids’ activities to launch a new custom-crafted ice cream flavor, Biscuit’s Birthday Bash and to celebrate and raise awareness of the 4th Annual Chappaqua Children’s Book Festival, which will take place on Saturday, September 24 at the nearby Robert Bell Middle School.

Free activities will include air-brushed tattoos and balloon-twisting provided by Kiwi Country Day Camp, a book reading by Biscuit series author Alyssa Capucilli and illustrator Pat Schories, and an appearance from Biscuit for hugs and photos. A portion of the proceeds from the sales of Biscuit’s Birthday Bash ice cream will benefit CCBF’s literacy partner, JCY-Westchester Community Partners, to fund the new SMART (Students and Mature Adults Reading Together) in the Ossining School District. Individual donations are also welcome!

WHO:   Chappaqua Children’s Book Festival

The Chappaqua Children’s Book Festival, established in 2013, is an annual “happening” every fall in the heart of Chappaqua, with a mission to create, sustain and nurture a culture of literacy in partnership with the community and local schools. This free, public event fosters a love of reading as families meet and greet outstanding creators of books for children of all ages. CCBF is the only children’s book festival in Westchester County and was inspired by Book Day at Sunnyside, which was discontinued in 2012 after 15 years.  The 2016 Chappaqua Children’s Book Festival will take place on Saturday, September 24 from 10am – 4pm at Bell Middle School in downtown Chappaqua.   For more information, visit www.ccbfestival.org or follow the CCBF at www.facebook.com/chappaquachildrensbookfestival.
