Forget the selfie stick. Podo is a wireless, re-stickable camera that turns any surface into a photo booth. Just stick, shoot, & share

Podo is a Bluetooth connected, stick-anywhere camera that you control with your phone. Just stick it on a wall and get in front!

Preview the shot on your screen, take a pic, then watch as images get transferred wirelessly to your phone. Whether it’s photos, videos, or time-lapse, Podo gets ‘Everybody in.’

Highlights:

•8 MP photos, 720p 30fps video

•Full integration with free Podo app (iOS and Android) over Bluetooth

•Delivering to the US, Canada, the EU, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Israel by August.

Peta Pixel: ‘Instead of shooting pictures of yourself at arms length, with a selfie stick, or with the help of a stranger, you’ll be able to stick the camera to most flat surfaces and trigger the shot with your phone.’

Tech Crunch: ‘Capable of attaching and re-attaching to a variety of surface materials — we tried wood, glass, and cement at hardware incubator Highway1 — Podo’s camera lets you provide the photo booth experience at a moment’s notice.’

The Next Web: ‘I hate selfie sticks, which is why I was delighted to hear about Podo – a smartphone-controlled camera that could kill the damn things off.’

Clapway: ‘Their niche seems to be all about living in the moment and having a tool that can capture that moment in an instant, in a quicker and easier real time way.’

East Bay Express: ‘…it kind of looks like it came out of a Pixar movie. Ideal. No wonder the campaign reached it’s $50,000 goal in only 16 hours.’

Stupid Dope: ‘We’ve seen all sorts of unique devices and concepts coming down over the past few years, and today we get something quite impressive and unique.’
Key Takeaways:

•Podo sticks to walls, windows, poles (basically any solid surface) using a re-washable, re-stickable pad. We added a strong magnet in there too.

•Podo shoots photo, video, time-lapse, and more. You can see a live preview of the shot before you take it, so it always turns out the way you want.

•Podo shares what you capture with ease because everything transfers wirelessly to your phone. From there you can edit, share, or do whatever it is you usually do.

The Podo App is free for iOS and Android and controls every aspect of the Podo camera.

How it works:

1. After using the live preview to make sure the shot looks exactly how you want, tap the shutter, or drag and release to start a timer.

2. Podo will transfer the image to your phone over Bluetooth in just a few seconds.

3. The image saves automatically to your phone’s gallery. Within the Podo app, you can then add a caption and upload directly to Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and Tumblr (with more to come).

The 3 modes: Photo, Video, and Auto

Photo: Single shots, double exposure, burst mode, etc.

Video: Perfect for 15-second clips (for Instagram/Vine). You can even make GIFs! Videos transfer over Bluetooth to your phone, so longer clips are possible but will take more time.

Auto: Podo can capture automatically based on custom time intervals. For example, Podo can shoot every 10 minutes to document your event or party, or create a time-lapse video. And because Podo “sleeps” in-between capturing, it can shoot hundreds of photos in auto mode for over a week.

Podo features an 8MP image sensor, Bluetooth classic, rechargeable Li-ion battery,4GB memoryaccelerometermicro-USB port, and LEDs. The LEDs serve as indication (when Podo is on, capturing, etc.) and also serves as a really powerful flash.

We designed Podo to be super simple. Just double-tap to turn on. After the first time, Podo will pair automatically to your phone. Just slap Podo on somewhere and you’re good to go.

The internal accelerometer makes sure your picture is oriented correctly, no matter which way you stick it on. (You can switch this off too).
The really cool feature is the microsuction pad. It’s not a tape or glue, so you don’t have to worry about replacing it every time. We like to compare it to gecko feet, or else having thousands of microscopic suction cups.

When it gathers dust from use, you can wipe it off with water and it’ll become sticky again. For good measure, we added a powerful magnet too.

The freely rotating back flap is our solution to covering and protecting the sticky pad when not in use. As an added benefit, it also lets you adjust angles for your shot!
