SOTTO SOPRA THE HAMPTONS LATEST DINING HOTSPOT

Posted by Stacy

Amagansett’s new Northern Italian eatery, Sotto Sopra, is impressing Hamptonites seven nights a week.  Sotto Sopra is just what the Hamptons needed.  Sophisticated Italian Cuisne with outdoor dining, makes this my go to restaurant. Its convenient Main Street location in laid back Amagansett  and frequent celebrity guests, Sotto Sopra has quickly become one of the most sought-after restaurants on the East End.  When you walk into Sotto Sopra it is warm and sunny and chic. The food was great, and the crowd was a who’s who of the hamptons.

From the moment you walk into this restaurant you feel you have walked into a restaurant where you are welcome. I have eaten here several times and the service has consistently been  friendly, yet professional.  Try sitting in the  outdoor garden with its lovely chic decor, if you like it quieter. I hear the pizza is great but it isn’t served on Saturday nights. Roasted whole branzini fish was wonderful. Last night I had striped bass with a peach salsa that was to die for.  Great fresh pasta with shrimp in excellent spicy tomato sauce was another excellent choice.

Under the direction of Rose Evangelista of the famed Evangelista family and two star Michelin Chef Josh Savi (formerly of Restaurant Patrick Guilabud in Dublin), Sotto Sopra affords guests with a relaxing atmosphere, exceptional service, and fresh, flavorful fare.

A favorite among celebrities including actors Alec Baldwin, Cameron Diaz and John Slattery and designers Michael Kors and David Yurman, the Hamptons hotspot allows guests to indulge in all-day dining with the restaurants flavorful lunch, brunch and dinner options. Guests have come to love Chef Savi’s signature dishes including Salumi, from the Antipasto menu, a selection of sliced meats and vegetables; Risotto Ubriaco, from the Primi Piatti menu, Arborio rice, red wine, sausage, mushrooms, and crispy leeks; and Formaggio di Capra e Melon, from the Insalate menu, salad with goat’s cheese, melon and prosciutto.

To compliment the cuisine, Sotto Sopra’s original cocktail menu features flavorful drinks for guests to enjoy; menu favorites include the Spicy Pepperoni Chili Margarita, the Rose cocktail, the Blueberry Mojito and made to order cocktails off the Brambles menu.

Inside, guests will feel they are in a modern Italian villa; Sotto Sopra has an open-style design, featuring an indoor bar, kitchen and pizza oven, evoking a modern, Tuscan atmosphere. Decorated to perfection, the restaurant features cedar wood wall paneling, sleek black and wood table and chairs, industrial style lighting and fixtures, and traditional white color accents.
