I’m Reading 50 Shades of Grey and So Is Everyone else in Armonk

Posted By Stacy |

One night at the Moderne Barn in Armonk, my friend Susan came over to me and asked me if I had read Fifty Shades of Grey?  She promised that would thank her.

I haven’t been so drawn in by a story and its characters in a long time, so for this to happen for this book shows you just how much I loved it. From beginning to end I was drawn into the story, I felt the fear that Anastasia felt and was just as confused by her with some of Mr Grey’s “issues”. I can’t wait to read the next book in the trilogy, and have already told all of my friends who love to read that this is a must for them

Erotic, amusing, and deeply moving, the Fifty Shades Trilogy
is a tale that will obsess you, possess you, and stay with you forever.

If you haven’t heard of the Fifty Shades Trilogy
….then you must be living in a bubble. That bubble needs to be popped asap so you can get cracking on reading these books! Fifty is so, so….bossy, delectable, addicting and deliciously so! Ana is a gem to read too, but seriously, it’s all about Fifty. Whenever I see an Audi now, I will forever associate it with this trilogy….and I’m ok with that.

According to The Huffington Post everyone in Armonk , NY is reading  it.  Julie Gerstenblatt article Porn For Mommies  warns

you will actually want to have sex with your husband. Like, a lot.

I am not into BDSM stories, but I have to say that I really loved “Fifty Shades of Grey”. This was one of those books that keeps you glued to the pages; staying up reading into the early morning. I found it to be very addicting which is really disturbing for me.

This is the love story of Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey. Christian is such a complex character. You love him and hate him at the same time and it’s really confusing. He’s the ultimate alpha male, bad boy with a very dark and disturbing desire to inflict pain. He literally gets off on it. He meets and falls for Anastasia. When they meet she is an innocent college student and happens to still be a virgin. This is their love story and its deeply disturbing. Our boy Christian has some serious demons and its making Ana think long and hard about their relationship. This is not your typical boy meets girl let’s date and fall in love romance. He wants to dominate her and he wants her submissive. He comes up with a contract that he wants her to sign. She’s torn between her love for him and her fear of him. She wants to know why he is so Fifty Shades of “f’d” up. She wants to get to the bottom of what happened in his past to make him need this type of relationship and why he hates to be touched. He introduces her to the “dark side” of his sexual habits and in his desire to keep her and make her happy, tries for the “vanilla relationship” she desires. Will Ana embrace Christian’s dark side or will it be more than she can handle? The way he makes love to her is so erotic, steamy, sexy and scary all at the same time.

I know it does not sound like it, but there is a real love story there. Ana brings out feelings in Christian that he has never felt with anyone else. As crazy as it sounds, I have a lot of hope for these two and I am eager to read the next installment.

    Have a lovely day,

  • If you like 50 Shades, you should look at The Red Period.

  • Missy

I’ve read all 3, via Kindle. It is absolutely a love story, with lots of layers, all the way through to the end. Compelling, intense read.

  • Dody

Love it, love it, love it. E.L. James you did well!! I want more, even need more. Although my family thinks I need to put the books down and come back to them..Best reading for me in years. As for people that say its too long not for a minute. I love the emails. I loved everything about all three books..

  • norma jean

I am so indulged and taken in by this book I can not put it down…I did not realize there were 3 books? What are the titles to the other 3?

  • Cindy

I’ve just ordered the trilogy on my kindle fire and I CANNOT PUT THE FIRST BOOK DOWN! This story has completely captivated me in everyway possible. The story is sensual and erotic. Multiple times my fiance has asked me why I smile as I’m reading it. Ladies I’m sure you understand! I’m in love with Christian..if only men like this did exist. 50 shades of F!#*%@ up or not, I’ll gladly take him. I can’t wait to get to 50 Shades Darker. They should warn you that a cold shower might be needed after reading! 😉

  • Cindy

PS- If they ever make this into a movie this is the guy that need to play Christian…please let me know if you agreOlivere! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_gQbbAlNB0

Thank you for introducing me to Oliver Jackson Cohen. Jewish, British , Gorgeous. Win! Win Win.

  • Cindy

You’re most welcome. He would make a tantalizing Mr. Grey 😉

  • Logan

Lame it was Twilight Fanfiction first.

If you like 50 Shades so much, just go check out some well written BDSM Fanfiction surrounding the Twilight characters because THAT is exactly what 50 Shades is.

Nothing has been changed but Stephanie Meyer’s characters’ names.

  • @ Logan – Finally, someone in this lot that knows the truth. You like 50 Shades? Go to fan fiction.net and look for TaraSueMe’s The Submissive. Posted on that site a good 2 years before (SnowQueenIceDragon) E.L. James began to post Master of the Universe (aka: 50 Shades of Grey) Read it, and see where she got 50 Shades, along with Twilight of course.

  • Amy

On book 3 in 4 days,,,OMG, more, more, more, I Love this series, Ana finds the “REAL” Christian, and he finds the “REAL” Ana. They are too hot, and makes our life a LOT hotter too! Thank you E.L. James, from the bottom of our ummm whatever! <3

  • Tracy

OMG. Just finished reading the last book in the trilogy of 50 shades. I agree with Amy. MORE! MORE! MORE! Please. Cant get enough of Christian Grey. Pls tell me this isn’t the last book about him. WE NEED MORE GREY! Thanks E.L. James for giving us what Twilight couldn’t or didn’t. As for the Dark hunter series books. I’ve read all 14 of those and although they were a good fast read they didn’t quite give me what 50 did.

  • laura

Hmmm. Years ago I read the Sleeping Beauty trilogy. Now THERE was some great writing. At the time, everyone who saw me reading it and found out what it was about was shocked. But this book is OK? I just do not see the point. It is too Desperate Housewives-ey for me. Try reading the Story of O. That’s good writing!

  • mia

I read all three and loved them. Not literary masterpieces… but very entertaining and hot. After I finished – I researched to find a similar “story” and found “Loving David” just as hot… kleenex recommended. So glad women are getting a larger variety of choices when it comes to ‘fun’reading.

  • Cynthia

try the short stories at http://www.redhatfantasies.wordpress.com – really HOT!

  • Lisa

I LOVED this trilogy!! I laughed, I cried, I was excited, anxious, on the edge of mny seat and more!!! ;o) I CAN NOT wait for the movie(s) I am currently looking for another book/trilogy/saga to read now but can’t seam to get Christian & Ana out of my mind…………

  • Cindi

Just finished all 3 books this weekend via kindle. Amost impossible for me focus on anything else but Ana and Christian and their lives..I remember feeling this way after reading The Twilight Saga. Bummed that the story has come to an end.

  • Gina

I have read all three and have started over on the first! I need a support group!

  • Gina

Please tell me they are making of movie!!

  • yes they are making a movie and as far as a support group I am sure there are more books to read

  • Just Julia

Reading last book now but I keep putting it down us I don’t want it to end! Can’t get 50 out of my head

  • Loved it!

Read all 3 in 4 days. Sad it had to end. I’m lookin for the next thing to read. Very excited to see the movie. Any suggestions on a new book?

  • Lainie Gutterman

Your post was so wonderful that I just quoted you in my most recent post pertaining to this infamous “mommy porn.” Read it here http://memyselfandbabyi.wordpress.com/2012/04/07/boys-their-toys-ny-auto-show/, as well as several other posts about the book!

  • Thanks for in lauding me in your blog post. Always liked the auto show.

  • Marie Cope

Love, Love these books! I don’t care about all the haters out there! This was the best book I have read in a while. Could not put it down! Just starting Number 3! Do you think she will write more in this trilogy?

  • Marie Cope

Just was thinking about casting for 50 shades!

    Chris Hemsworth- Christian
    Michelle Traktenberg- Ana

What does everyone think about those two?

  • Sandy

Yes Chris is Perfect for Grey! Michelle would be good as well.

  • Jes

My husband is on his third deployment and I’m 5 months pregnant with our first baby. These books have been a dream come true!!! I cannot stop reading, but have slowed down because I don’t want it to end. Some people may find it too much, but I find it HOT! As someone else pointed out, it’s about time women have a variety of fun books to read 😉 I can’t wait to see the book come to life on the movie screen.

  • Marie cope

    Thanks for the comment Sandy!
I am so in love with these books! I hope she does more in the the series!

  • Lisa Giles

Well I love the 50 shades of Grey. It was sexy & wonderful. I am not into BDSM. But the sex scenes can drive a girl crazy. Christian deffenetly is too controlling. And with every turn this story takes it shocks you or it did with me. I read this book in 1 day, couldn’t put it down. I’m starting on the next book.

As for Christians character I think ” Ian Somerhalder ” is the one for this part. He’s sexy, beautiful, a wonderful actor and I can see him pull it off.
    Good Luck Ian Somerhalder. Lisa

  • Katie

I started with the 3rd book because I was at the airport when I bought it and that’s the only version they had.

Anyway, I finished it on Friday and i’ve been hysterically crying ever since. I mean, sad, depressed, can’t-snap-out-of-it sad. Why? Because i’m single and I want my own Christian Grey and the reality is, he doesn’t exist. No man in the universe can compare. I mean, I might seriously need to seek professional help because he occupies my thoughts 24/7.

  • Michele

Checkout the facebook chat club for Fifty Shades of Grey, a great gorup of ladies and even a few men.

  • Tey Seamen

Good Lord, Women are getting inspired, what a great bew world we live in.
Should a guy read this book as well ?

  • Jenn

I’ve read the trilogy and have told every woman I know to read it – and not just the first book, but the entire trilogy. Why? Because too many are focused on the whole BDSM thing when, in reality, this is a great love story and you won’t know that unless you read the trilogy.

  • Zis

I loved these books, and totally agree with the suggestions of Oliver Jackson-Cohen, or Ian Somerhalder, but I have one more to add to the list…Jonathan Rhys Meyers. I think he would also deliver the goods as Christian Grey!

  • Margarette

Oliver Jackson Cohen will be great.

  • hayley

Yeah! Oliver Jackson Cohen as Christian. <3 He is a handsome Brit guy. Good actor too. 🙂

  • JB

If you liked this trilogy give Her Own Serenity a try. A bit more mild on the BDSM scene, but full of sensual fantasy and mystery.

  • Joanna

i loved this book couldn’t put it down. i read it every chance i got finished the series within a week. im a little sad now that im done and dont know if ill be able to find another book that would pull me in.

  • Lou

I read the book and did not like it, I did think it was familiar. Took me a while to work it out, but I believe this book is a rip off of the movies NIne and a half weeks and Wild Orchid. Grey is Mickey Rouke pre plastic surgery!

  • Lou

Ps. Rourkes character in 9 & a half weeks is named John Gray…

  • thoughtiwasnormalbefore50shades

Thought I had the sex thing nailed til I read this book. Please help me with this burning question. For you women out there who know what an orgasm is and have them regularly – dont you have a refractory period? Didnt know that every woman doesnt have this and have come to find I am considered odd for it. As I read the book it bugged me that Grey would bring Steel to orgasm then go for penetration. I mean, terrific if she can climax both times but I assumed she wouldnt (because of the refractory period) which just made his penetration seem selfish and yucky and made me dislike him. Come to find out all women (according to the internet) can just keep reaching orgasm as long as their partner is willing to work them. If this is true how come women are not having all orgasms all the time? I sure know a lot of women who disdain sex (even though they claim to orgasm) as well as many women who never orgasm (or seem confused about whether or not they do). Be assured this refractory girl is satisfied with her one good one. So my question is, women, after true orgasm is your body hypersensitive and want NO MORE stimulation for a period of time, or can you just keep orgasm-ing all over the place? No multiple orgasm braggarts please (unless its true of course. Then GOOD for you!).

  • Christine Vaz

These books we’re so addicting, couldn’t put them down. Although there were some parts that I wish E L James had written differently, all three books had me at the edge of my seat. I finished the third book and I am so depressed, I want more of Christian Grey!! I am counting down the days until the movie…

  • DK

Should Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev Star in 50 Shades of Grey …i SO say YES.,,I do hope they make a motion picture. Loved the trilogy and i would love to read the Christian’s version of the story. E L James make the readers HAPPY!!!

  • Jessica

Great trilogy! Google Austin Victoria, I think he’s a perfect Christian Grey?

  • Juliet

James Scott (who works right now on a daytime soap but deserves better) would be perfect for Christian Grey actually, he is a tall, dashing, smooth, insanely sexy brit..

  • Juliet

Yep Rourke character on 9 & a half weeks is the same type of character..and he was hot hot hot at this time, maybe John Grey was Christian’s father, like father like son..lol

  • hayley

Oliver Jackson Cohen would be great as Christian Grey. He is so handsome. Tall. I love his accent. I can’t stop staring on his pictures on Facebook and Google. Mygosh!! <3

  • Sarah

How about Oliver Jackson-Cohen? He is also good as Christian Grey. No doubt.

  • lisa

Bared to you is exactly like 50 shades of gray..Maybe even better!!!! Loved it.

  • Oliver Jackson-Cohen is grate for Christian. He is a great actor. Handsome and gorgeous tall man. http://www.facebook.com/OliverMansourJacksonCohen

  • Barbara

Well I just listened to the audio of all three Fifty Shades books, it took me a week. I put aside the fact that I wasn’t crazy about the voice they chose to read them and concentrated on the characters. I can take or leave some of what she’s written but the REAL TURN ON is that Ana comes home from work to a housekeeper who says “what would you like for dinner Mrs Grey”….OH YES!!!!!

  • Ale

I’ll be happy to see Oliver Jackson Cohen to play Mr Grey role.
