Posted by Stacy
Almond Restaurant & Bar (1 Ocean Road, Bridgehampton, NY 11932, 631-537-5665, www.almondrestaurant.com) and author and Insatiable Critic Gael Greene (www.insatiable-critic.com) host a night of “Delicious Sex” and fabulous French cuisine on Sunday, August 7 at 8:30 p.m. The evening features a three-course menu prepared by Chef Jason Weiner, complete with wine pairings, interspersed with readings by Greene from her New York Times bestseller Blue Skies, No Candy and the infamous “instructional book” Delicious Sex: A Gourmet Guide to Pleasure for Women…And the Men Who Want to Love Them Better. A question and answer session with Ms. Greene follows dinner. The evening costs $65 per person which includes tax, tip and a downloadable copy of either book Delicious Sex or Blue Skies, No Candy.
Reservations are required and can be made by calling 631-537-5665 or e-mailing info@almondrestaurant.com. Upon registering, patrons who provide their e-mail address will receive, via e-mail, a code for use at either Amazon.com or Barnesandnoble.com to obtain an electronic copy of either book, Delicious Sex, recently reissued in an updated and uncensored 25th anniversary edition or the long-out-of-print erotic classic Blue Skies, No Candy.
Upon its publication in 1976, Greene’s novel Blue Skies, No Candy was greeted with shock and outrage by male critics yet championed as a landmark of sexual liberation by women everywhere. It quickly became a New York Times bestseller, even though its daring ads were officially banned from New York City’s buses and subways. And for more than 35 years, this fearless and witty story of a successful screenwriter whose hobby is adultery in the afternoon, has remained an underground classic. Greene originally wrote Delicious Sex in response to male critics uncomfortable with the portrayals of female sexuality in her novels. With chapters that include 69 Ways to Turn Him/Her On, Fork Play, Floor Play – Love on the Dance Floor, Ford Play and Fantasy Scenarios, Delicious Sex remains as shocking, daring and decidedly hands-on as it was 25 years ago. “Today when both men and women take their notebooks and cell phones to bed,” Greene says, “Delicious Sex is more needed than ever. And it’s never been more delicious.”
About Gael Greene
Best known as the caustic and sensuous restaurant critic of New York magazine for over 30 years, Greene is the author of seven book including best-selling erotic novels Blue Skies, No Candy (1976), Doctor Love (1982) and the provocative 2007 memoir Insatiable: Tales from a Life of Delicious Excess. In 1981, she and the late James Beard co-founded Citymeals-on-Wheels, which, last year, provided 2 million meals to over 16,000 homebound elderly New Yorkers at times when they would otherwise have been alone and hungry. Greene continues to dish via the journal Bite on her website InsatiableCritic.com, her subscription newsletter Fork Play, and as a guest judge on Bravo’s top-rated Top Chef Masters. Recently, Daily Meal reported Greene was the most-followed restaurant critic on Twitter.
